Sol Trujillo Ranks Amongst Least Trusted
Would You Trust This Man With a Communications Monopoly?
20th June 2008 – Sydney, Australia – The fourth annual Reader’s Digest Trust Survey has found that Australian’s rate Sol Trujillo, CEO of Telstra, amongst the least trustworthy people in the country.
Sol Trujillo and Shane Warne tied as the fifth least trusted people in the survey. Mr Trujillo ranks one place above confessed terrorism supporter David Hicks.
“Mr Trujillo and Warnie could both claim to make their living as spinners, but at least Shane can take comfort that his flipper has probably given Australians more pleasure over the years than Mr Trujillo’s public utterances,” said a T4 spokesperson.
“Telstra’s ongoing strategy of bullying and mistruths has helped it lose the trust of the Australian people,” he said. “Mr Trujillo is the worst placed CEO of an Australian listed company in the survey.”
“As the government gets closer to making a decision on who should own and operate the National Broadband Network – the single biggest investment Australia has made in communications – we need to ask, would you trust the future of broadband to this man?” he said.
The Reader’s Digest Survey includes a poll on Australia’s Most Trusted Brands. Telstra – the country’s largest telecommunications company – missed out on placing in its category. Vodafone was the winner of the most trusted telecommunications brand with Optus named as runner-up.
