13th May 2008 – Sydney, Australia – The companies behind T4 and other industry members including Optus, today launched a national campaign to call for a fair go in broadband pricing.
The campaign, which kicked off with a full page ad in daily newspapers, aims to bring attention to the fact that Australians could end up paying a very high price for a national high speed broadband network.
The campaign highlights comments from Telstra’s executives who are on the record stating, “They (the Government) have public interest in mind and we have profit in mind.”[1]
The companies involved in the campaign are concerned that Telstra will use the Government’s plans for a new National Broadband Network (NBN) to force broadband prices much higher.
Comments from the Australian public posted to the T4 website express ongoing concern about the availability and cost of broadband services.
The ad ends with a call for people concerned about broadband pricing to add their voice to the call by registering at: www.fairgobroadband.com.au
